Taking risks for the Kingdom of God

According to Hebrews 11, it is impossible to do acts of faith without taking risks. This is the way it is in the Kingdom of God. When God gives us a mission to do, there is always an element of risk. Without risk, there cannot be faith. The missions, as well as the risks involved are always beyond our abilities and resources. The more faith demands, the bigger the reward.

God has called us to “Go Ye” with acts of faith. We need to resist the strongholds of disbelief and put our whole trust in Christ and pray without ceasing for the guidance of His Holy Spirit! It’s impossible to please God without faith. We must “believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Heb.11:6). We invite you to listen and be part of the front-line of faithful missions workers in this generation.

In a recent meeting, we received reports by Russian pastors than they are seeing people come into their churches and evangelism meetings who have one goal - to receive Christ as Savior. They attribute this new-found spiritual hunger to their partnership in outreach with IRR/TV through local media in their cities.

Television Ministry to Iran

When we think of Iran. we have images of Islamic extremism; an environment completely hostile to Christianity. But there are literally millions of underground Christians and their numbers are increasing. We cannot go into Iran as missionaries of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but we can broadcast to them by satellite. It is like rain from heaven and the Islamic government cannot stop the down pour. Satellite is the number one means of receiving TV in Iran and people there are watching. Your support of this kind of missions work makes the Great Commission possible in difficult to reach places.

15,000 Families Respond to City Media Saturation Missions in Russia

IRR/TV has worked with churches in 14 cities so far this year in Russia. And to date, we have received requests and responses at our local call centers from 15,000 Russian families. The focus of our media outreach strategy in Russia is the family. We tell stories of families who have been changed because one or more members were able to face their problems in life with Jesus Christ at their side. These stories appear on television, radio, outdoor and transit advertising, in print and on the internet in places that have little or no Christian broadcasting or other media in Russia.

Dramatic Shift in Missions Strategy

Are we in the Last Days spoken of in the Bible? No matter how you answer this question, we should live our lives as if Jesus were returning tomorrow. What are you doing to reach the lost of this generation? We live in a day of instant communication. Mobile phones, the internet and satellite TV have brought the entire world within our reach. In 2003, IRR/TV tried a new approach to spreading the gospel by saturating the media of a city with life stories of people who’s lives were dramatically changed by Jesus Christ. We continue to work with local churches in Russia and other countries, training and equipping them to reach their people - accomplishing 100 years of missions work (according to traditional methods) in 30 days.

Russian Evangelism is Israel and Russia

IRR/TV is an abbreviation for International Russian Radio and Television. Although we have expanded our mission fields in recent years, our primary area of ministry has been Russia. Many Russians with Jewish Roots have emigrated to Israel in recent years. The vast majority know little of their Jewish heritage and live very secular lives. in 2008 and continuing in 2009, IRR/TV has reached out to these people with the message of Christ. We have a report on this year’s outreach as well as reports from city media missions in Russia.

Missionaries arrested in Russia

In a recent City Evangelism Campaign in Russia, some of IRR/TV’s ministry team were arrested and detained for questioning by the FSB (formerly known as the KGB). A truck filled with 24,000 Christian books was also seized. The days of freedom in Russia are drawing to a close and persecution of Christians who do know subscribe to the (un)official state religion of Russian Orthodoxy. We have a first hand report.

Great Commission Work in the Middle East

One of the biggest challenges to the work of The Great Commission, to make disciples of all nations, are closed doors of nations that are hostile to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Throughout the Islamic world, satellite television has proliferated to the point where a dish on a roof or balcony is as common as the once ubiquitous TV antenna. IRR/TV Ministries is in constant production of Arabic, Farsi and Turkish Language television aired on 3 satellite channels covering the entire Middle East from Africa to India.

The signal falls from the sky like rain from heaven; and it doesn’t just fall on arrid soil—the response to these broadcasts and the six ministry websites targeting this region that are maintained by IRR/TV are seeing a tremendous response to the call to new life in Christ.

Christian Media Missions in Central Asia

IRR/TV works together with local churches to use local media to share the Gospel with millions of people in Russia. The countries of Central Asia that were once joined to Russia under the USSR are also part of our mission field. Once again this year, IRR/TV is involved in training Christian leaders in Kazakhstan and assisting the churches in reaching their cities for Christ.

60 People come to Christ every week

In late 2007, IRR/TV worked with churches in Ukraine to saturate the media of Kiev, the nation’s capitol with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many responded during the 30 day evangelism blitz, but even after a year has past, one Ukrainian church has reported that the people continue to seek Christ. This one church has reported to us that they continue to see an average of 60 people per week give their lives to Christ when they come to their church meetings.

They unique method of evangelizing through local media outlets that was adopted by IRR/TV Ministries since 2003 is having a lasting impact on Kiev and other cities of the former Soviet Union.

IRR/TV is a ministry that does not acknowledge closed doors to the Gospel. We continue to use local media in Central Asia and Russia to tell people about the life changing power of Jesus Christ. In spite of new laws that would seem to prohibit evangelism, God has kept the doors open.

In 2008, we worked with churches in Israel in three languages - Hebrew, Russian and Arabic to put messages of hope in Christ in public media in Israel and the Palestinian Territories.

Now we are seeking the Lord on how we might ministry in other Middle Eastern nations that we might consider to be off limits. Hannu Haukka reports on his fact finding mission to Damascus, Syria.
